Board Members

Gehan Farag

President

Gehan Farag is a Business Marketing Consultant of Egyptian origin. Her experience as a single mother in Canada inspired her to write and engage in women's advocacy. She has authored numerous articles and participated in recorded interviews, aiming to support anyone who has faced oppression and injustice due to their beliefs.

Rami Basha

Board Director

Rami Basha is a public health professional, educated at Ryerson University (Toronto Metropolitan University), and obtained a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Liverpool. He manages several programs like Food Safety, Safe Water, and Rabies Control. Born in Egypt and immigrated to Canada in 2002. He has several interests including classic music, literature, and fountain pens.

Mohammad Hassan

Board Director

Mohammad Hassan is a professional interpreter based in Ontario, Canada, with experience serving diverse cultural and linguistic communities. He speaks Arabic, English, Turkish, and French.


A passionate reader with a strong interest in continuous learning, Mohammad believes deeply in humanistic values, the power of knowledge, and the importance of raising awareness. These principles have shaped his sense of responsibility toward creating a positive environment where meaningful ideas can be shared, discussed, and passed on to others.


He places particular importance on reaching younger generations, recognizing their vital role as the parents, leaders, and community builders of the future. As a Board Member of Ensaneyoun, Mohammad is committed to promoting thoughtful dialogue, cultural understanding, social awareness, and meaningful community engagement.

Nashaat Estafanous

Co-Founder

Nashaat Estafanous is from an Egyptian background. He has been living in Canada for 30 years, he works as a pharmacist living in Richmond Hill.

George Botros

Co-Founder

Consulting structural engineer of Egyptian origin living in Canada since 2007.

Active Members

Abdelrahman El-Tohfa

Abdelrahman El-Tohfa is a Civil Engineering PhD candidate of Egyptian origin. He has several scientific publications and experience in managing complex research projects and conducting impartial reviews of scientific literature. Drawing on his past volunteer work with Egyptian Researchers, he is inspired to commit to community-driven secular initiatives. He is actively coordinating Ensaneyoun’s administrative operations, aiming to establish rigorous organizational transparency, accountability, and credibility.

Atef Nawar

Atef is a management, sales, and training professional with over 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales, leadership, and education. Since immigrating to Canada in 2007, he has continued his passion for teaching as a Canadian Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and BLS Instructor, while also educating students in science subjects.

A lifelong learner, Atef enjoys reading, writing Arabic articles, and playing chess—his favorite hobby. As the proud father of two daughters, he believes in the power of knowledge, freedom of expression, and secularism, and hopes to see these values contribute to a more open and progressive societies across the Arabic-speaking world.

In his free time, he enjoys swimming, soccer, and table tennis.
